From the subject line to the call to action, emails need to be innovative and appealing to achieve high open and click-through rates. Over the past 14 years, I have been the editor of nine newsletters and in charge of numerous successful email marketing campaigns. The most recent newsletter I edited, the IFDA Daily Update, is emailed every business day and has an open rate and clickthrough rate above average for non-profits (17% open rate and 22% clickthrough rate). Since I took over as editor of that publication, I have grown the subscribership from 4,000 to 13,000 readers. I blend my experience as a graphic designer and marketer to make sure emails are attractive and engaging for the recipient.
